The article is devoted to the identification and consideration of the actively discussed in recent years concepts of multiculturalism and multilingualism. In modern conditions a new model of a multilingual linguistic personality capable of using several languages in various spheres of life as well as adequately interacting with representatives of other cultures, understanding and accepting their worldview, values and traditions has been formed as a result of close interaction and functioning of these concepts.

The author proves that the new situations arising with the development of Russian and foreign communities have led to serious changes in the living conditions and interaction of the main communicants and have made a noticeable impact on the format of interpersonal communication in a multinational state.

It is concluded that in the modern world solving the issues of the functioning of languages in society has become a very important state task due to the processes of self-determination of nations, the formation of multinational states and the active migration of the population. In the focus of linguistics, this task is successfully solved within the framework of anthropocentric communicative linguoculturology, comparative linguoculturology and intercultural communication using methods of sociolinguistics, functional and cognitive linguistics and intent analysis.

It is shown that a new multilingual and multicultural reality has emerged in the modern world on the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Owing to this reality a specific language of the metropolis has been formed in the region due to interlanguage interaction, but nevertheless by preserving the native language and culture, adapting to each other, exchanging the most valuable elements which in particular led to the formation of a general cultural and the international lexical funds.
