Genres related to the topic of gender, their classification and the themes of the plots have not yet been considered in a complex. Although they are closely related to history, ethnogenesis, ethnographic facts about tribal totems, tamgas, religious and historical processes. The purpose of the article is to clarify genres in Altai folklore for their thematic systematization. The work uses traditional research methods, as well as an interdisciplinary approach. The comparative method of inter-genre texts was also used when referring to the ethno-religious component in genres related to the topic of gender and its subdivisions. The genres of Altai folklore related to the subject of childbirth are diverse. These include mythological stories, legends as well as varieties of small genres (good wishes, sayings, and teasers, arranged in verse form). Despite their diversity, these genres are closely related to the representations of the clans that took part in the ethnogenesis of the Altaians.
