The article explores the materials of Bashkir folklore from the period of the Great Patriotic War. “The Bashkir Folk Art” series was published in a separate volume in 2020 and represents a variety of genres and content. This article discusses three genres: ‘baits’, songs, and ‘takmaks’. They were very popular among the people at that time. In addition, such phenomena as fortune-telling and dreams are mentioned. Through the interpretation of fortune-telling, women who were desperate in waiting for news from the front tried to get information about whether their loved ones were alive. The research material is based on published and unpublished archival publications and field materials of the author. The textual analysis of the work is also  relevant to the topic of the article. The analysis is carried out using the comparative method. The relevance of the topic of the article is related to the need to study what assessment contemporaries gave to the events of the Great Patriotic War and what reflection they found in the national memory and in the system of life values. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that, using the example of works of a number of genres of Bashkir folklore united by the theme of war, the spirit, mood, and faith of the Soviet people in victory are shown. The genres are different, but the idea is the same. That is the expectation of victory which is forged not only at the front, but also in the rear.
