In the context of globalization, the folklore heritage of the peoples of the world is becoming a key tool for preserving ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity. In this regard, a thorough study of the epic heritage which has enormous potential for transmitting and preserving the values of traditional culture is of particular importance. In this context, it is extremely important to identify the unique features of expressive and artistic means characteristic of the epic tradition of each ethnic group. One of these tools is ethnopoetic formulas, which designate significant moments in epic narratives known as uligers. Based on the analysis of Khorinsky uligers, the article examines the arsenal of traditional cliches, which is especially characteristic of the Khori-Buryat epic tradition. These stable stylistic elements are common verbal formulas that make up commonplaces that are repeated in the plots of various epic works of the eastern Buryats. They occupy a prominent place in the structure of these works. Rhythmically organized verbal constructions in the text serve to express complete judgments about the described subjects. In this study, epic formulas that help to convey the temporal background of events taking place in uligers were identified. They also describe the basic elements of defense and combat, including the attributes, armor of the hero and episodes of his battles with the enemy. The features of Bator’s horse were also noted.
