In this article, we will look at the lexical card index of the Institute of History, Language and Literature of the UFIC RAS. Special attention is paid to the work of the linguist A.G. Biishev, who made a significant contribution to the creation of the system. Thanks to the annual reports stored in the scientific archive of the UFIC RAS, we can trace how and at what time the card index was created. While working on the system, linguistics scientists at the Institute have done a lot of work to study the sources in order to determine their linguistic value for the dictionary. It is important to note that the lexical card index of the Institute has not only become the basis for creating dictionaries, but also remains an actual base for new scientific projects.
