The article examines ethnographic materials devoted to folk medicine of the Bashkir people collected by S.I. Rudenko in the early twentieth century. The purpose of the article is to summarize the results of author's field research which was conducted among the Bashkirs living in the Republic of Bashkortostan as well as in places of compact residence on the territory of the Russian Federation for almost 30 years from 1997 to 2025. The article characterizes the history and ethnographic folk medicine of the Bashkirs determining the degree of preservation of ideas about diseases, means and methods of treatment. The main research methods were historical and ethnographic description, comparative analysis, historical reconstruction method as well as systemic and typological methods. Field research was carried out on the basis of qualitative methods (observation, oral survey, included observation). The results of the study show that the Bashkirs managed to preserve traditional folk medical knowledge and originality of the Bashkir culture even at the beginning of the 21st century.
