The paper examines the role of the Chuvash family as a key institution of ethno-cultural personality formation. The relevance of the topic stems from the need to better understand the mechanisms of preserving ethnic identity in the context of globalization and the transformation of traditional ways. The family continues to act as the most important channel for the transmission of values, norms of behavior and cultural meanings, but the content and forms of this transmission are noticeably changing. Ethnography has not studied the modern Chuvash family, which makes it difficult to understand its dynamics. Traditional works on the ethnographic aspects of marriage and family do not take into account globalization, urbanization, and socio‑economic changes. The paper attempts to identify the basic ethnocultural traditions of upbringing in the Chuvash family and trace their transformation in modern socio-cultural conditions. The main focus is on the value-based foundations of traditional education (respect for elders, labor education, and the importance of family ties), as well as the means and mechanisms of transmitting cultural experience: folklore (proverbs, fairy tales, and songs), ritual practices, collective forms of labor, etc. The methodology includes historical and pedagogical analysis, as well as empirical methods such as interviews with representatives of Chuvash families, observation, and content analysis of media materials. The study explores the factors of transformation, including urbanization, changes in family structure, the influence of mass culture and digital media, and shifts in values and role distribution within the family. The research focuses on identifying which elements of the traditional model remain stable, which are modified, and which are losing their significance, and how these processes affect the development of children's personal qualities. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the identified ethnopedagogical resources in modern educational and upbringing practices, as well as in the development of culturally-oriented family support programs. The results of the study allow not only to reconstruct historically established models of upbringing, but also to assess the potential for their adaptation to modern conditions, while preserving the connection between generations and ethnic specificity.
