The article presents an overview of the project "Electronic atlas of Ural-Volga peoples' material culture vocabulary", which was implemented with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation in 2024–2025 based on the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The paper highlights the significance and novelty of this research, justifying the methods and approaches used to study the linguistic and geographic aspects of the material cultural vocabulary. It describes the stages and outcomes of creating an electronic atlas for this vocabulary. The goal of the project was to create an electronic atlas on the LinguoDoc platform that would include the vocabulary of the Ural-Volga peoples' material culture. The primary objectives were to collect, organize, and upload data to the linguistic platform, followed by digital processing and mapping on the same platform. In the course of the project, the participants compiled and uploaded dictionaries of material culture vocabulary in eight languages (Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash, Mari, Udmurt, Moksha, Erzya, and Russian), each consisting of two parts. At the next stage, more than 200 linguistic maps were created, covering various thematic groups of material culture vocabulary, such as names of clothing, jewelry, food, settlements, dwellings, buildings, utensils, furniture, dishes, tools, hunting, pets, gardening, and gathering products. The final product of the project is the "Electronic atlas of Ural-Volga peoples' material culture vocabulary," which is available in the "Map repository" section of the LinguoDoc platform. The scientific significance of the project lies in the use of digital technologies in linguistics. These technologies not only provide a way to enter and store data, but also enable automated search and analysis of information, creating an opportunity to explore linguistic problems from various angles using a large amount of data. The practical significance of the work lies in its potential for application in further scientific research, dictionary compilation, and teaching linguistic disciplines such as area linguistics, computational linguistics, lexicology, and ethnolinguistics. By implementing this project and achieving its results through the use of modern innovative technologies, we can conduct linguistic research digitally. This not only increases the efficiency and quality of our work, but also allows us to perform research in a more efficient and effective manner.
